WEEK 10 NEWS:
-What a wild ride it's been these last two weeks. Shamrock Shempurai fattened up19 Fargin' points Week 9 to stave off the Halfmoon MtnTop for the G1 crown. The previously unblemished Holy Ground Melancholics let the title "UNDEFEATED" be erased from all their forthcoming G2 1st place mugs and plaque by spoilers Marlene's Corkscrewers, 7-12, although HGM Mike Porteous did get a Ton 80 as a consolation prize. B1 heavyweights Finnatics & Blind Squirrels had me swapping out their pictures over the last 6 weeks but the Finnatics finally put together a skin-of-their-teeth 1 point championship with the help of a 4 vs. 2 Valentine's Day make-up match (16-3) against the ever-accomodating Halfmoon Barhoppers. And in Silver 2, the Milan Eggs overcame an 12 point deficit to division-leading LBTR with a stunning last ditch Wk10 18-1 point-yoink.

-About half the teams did not send scores this week.
-Week 8's match between Rendezvous and MCYC was declared a forfeit BUT MCYC DID
HAVE ENOUGH PLAYERS (2) TO PLAY THE MATCH!
Mistakenly, they thought otherwise and got themselves a forfeit for a lack of
reading the Rules. YOU ONLY NEED 2 PLAYERS TO PLAY A MATCH.
-Week 7 Corkscrewers forfeit to Bomb Squad; didn't have
players present at their home bar after 8pm. (they were also late at home
Week 9, but Chickens let them slide)
-Allstar Notables: Borracho Clayton Scherrer hit 6 stars incl. a 66
out via DB in their mauling of the NTRBs. Cudos to Brian Senie (and Cayce,
lol) for preventing the shutout.
Also, Derelict Jim Frink took out his 70 with 2 darts: 20, Dbl Bull!
Nice.

-MUG UPDATE: Those of you expecting mugs from last season should be getting them in a few weeks. Our main supplier had them backordered until mid-January, so they're just now reaching Faber Trophy for etching. When I called Melvin Faber he said he hadn't called me because he had lung surgery and was out for a couple weeks. Melvin, the ODC wishes you a speedy recovery! Anyhow, he said they "look good" and will be done soon. Thanks for your patience.

This quote caught my eye: "Beer pong players
are allowed to use pretty much any method to distract an opponent from his shot,
either with words or actions". Oh my.
While we're on that note, I'd like to encourage everyone to renew their
commitment as avatars of good sportsmanship. As ODC members, you are held
to a higher standard of behavior than other bar leagues. If you have a
conflict during a match, politely ask your opposing team captain how it can be
resolved. Whenever an opponent approaches you with a reasonable request,
give them the same consideration you would expect from them. If the
request doesn't inconvenience you greatly, grant it. Unlike Beer Pong, ODC
is about beating your opponent at their best, not weakened and
distracted. Don't let them have any excuses like "bra, I only lost because
that dude wouldn't turn the fan off like I asked him." Give them every
chance to fall on their faces without an excuse crutch to support them. Winning
is so much sweeter seeing them wallowing in defeat like that with no one to
blame but themselves. As I was saying, good sportsmanship and all, right.
While we're at it, please don't look at players when you're scoring, don't
distract shooters in any way, don't yell suggestions to singles players on the
line and don't fondle others' darts when you're scoring.

As always, if you faxed or
emailed your match scores but find your team name in the Penalties section, we
did not receive your report.
Send Tom your fax confirmation page or your email error message and he'll
credit you your penalty points if it was originally sent before the deadline
(Sat. Midnight after the match). We usually get one or 2 fax transmission
error pages so if you can tell me the time and date you sent it and there is an
error page for then, your penalties will be removed. Make sure you fill
out the Individual Stats section!
